RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 347754

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0

I am quite fussy about using screen space most efficiently.

The new button to the right of the location bar is useless to me because I press "Enter" to acknowledge URLs, not the mouse. It therefore wastes space and reduces the maximum length of URL displayable at a glance in the location bar.

The "customize" funcionality should allow me to remove that button just like any other button, but it and the location bar seem to be treated as a single, glued-together object.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right-click toolbar, select "customize".
2. Drag the button to the right of the location bar into the customize window.
Actual Results:
Location bar disappears entirely.

Expected Results:
The button I dragged should disappear, the Location bar should stay.

The workaround is to put about:config into the location bar, filter on browser.urlbar.hideGoButton, then double click on that line to toggle the pref to true.

There isn't a similar pref for the search bar.
