When I click on get mail, it comes up at the bottom of the screen " building file for inbox". After it builds this file it then allows me to check my email. I never had this problem before. It just started last Saturday.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Did a virus check on my computer
2.deleted some emails
3.
Actual Results:
Nothing happened after trying to take care of the problem. Virus check was good.

Does deleting Inbox.msf help? See bug 289369 comment 22.
And which version are you using?
