My inbox always remembers its sort order, but SOME (not all) of the other folders keep resetting from Subject to date-descending. I haven't been able to pin down what causes it, except that when it does happen, it happens after marking the folder read with Ctrl-Shift-C and then moving to another folder. As I said, only some folders behave this way. Also, this only affects mail folders. News folders remember their sort order with no problem. Reproducible: Sometimes
I've never noticed a problem like this. IMAP folders, or local (POP) mail folders? When you use something like Mark All Read, do you have any additional view settings (a MailView or Quicksearch) active at the time? Does it happen repeatedly for the same folders? If so, you could try deleting the .MSF file for the folder and letting it rebuild, re-set the view/sort the way you want, and see if it loses the setting again. xref bug 107280, bug 293421.
Deleting the .msf files and letting TB recreat them seems to have fixed this.
=> WFM per reporter's comment 2. Jim, in TB 2.0, you won't have to delete the file manually -- right-click on the folder, select Properties, then click the Rebuild Index button.
OK, *really* WFM this time.
