2. Wait a few seconds: spinning beachball
3. Freeze
Force quit.

Console.log has this entry at the same moment:

The freeze only happens when the 'Themes' pane is selected when opening the window or when switching to the 'Themes' panes.

It tried again with build of comment#1. 
But either case did not have the problem either. 
Problem only of 10.4.x ?

Right. I tested it now on a 10.3.9 box: no problems indeed. Edited the Summary to reflect this.
