User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0
Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 1.5.0.8 (20061025)
I've noticed recently that all my "Trash" folders have been renamed to "Deleted" All menu commands such as "Empty Trash" and "Empty Trash folder on Exit" have been renamed to "Empty Deleted" and "Empty Delete folder on Exit". I'm not using IMAP mail, just 2 POP3 accounts. Both POP3 accounts and the Local Folders account have been renamed in this way. Thinking this may have happened during an update, I uninstalled 1.5.0.8 with Windows Add/Remove feature, deleted the folder and then installed 1.5.0.7 which behaves the same way. I again uninstalled the same way, then installed an older 1.0.7 version which worked correctly with my trash folder back to "Trash" and menu options back to "Trash" instead of "Deleted". I uninstalled the same way, downloaded a fresh copy of 1.5.0.8 and installed it and everything is renamed back to "Deleted", both folders and menu items. Checking my User Profile folder, the trash folder is still named trash.msf even though 1.5.0.8 has renamed everything as "Deleted" in program.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install from scratch a fresh copy of 1.5.0.7 or 1.5.0.8
2.
3.
Actual Results:
"Trash" folder renamed to "Deleted" and menu items changed from "Trash" to "Deleted".
Expected Results:
Would expect trash folder to be named "Trash"
No themes, or extensions installed.Running Windows XP Pro, Firefox2.0 and Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 (tested versions 1.5.0.7 and 1.0.7 as described above).

Maybe you didn't get the en-US build but some British (or other) English localization?

Version 1.5.0.8 downloaded from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/
However, my version of Firefox 2 was downloaded via FTP. I had no dictionary installed and was told that UK/British verions were as such. Would Firefox control what Thunderbird does? They are installed separately, with separate folders and profile folders.
My actual mail folders have been carried forward way back from Netscape mail through different versions of Thunderbird. In fact, I still have a "Trash.snm" file along with "Trash" and "Trash.msf" files. There is no way to rename the Folders inside of Thunderbird.
Uninstalled both Firefox and Thunderbird. Deleted both program directories. Downloaded US versions from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ and http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/ and installed Firefox and then Thunderbird. Same results. I noticed something while installing Thunderbird, so uninstalled it and installed it again. Caught the following screen during the install. Is this the correct launguage install? As stated, both Thunderbird and Firefox downloaded from the US version.

No, that looks like the Great Britain language pack/build. I don't know if it calls Trash deleted but it wouldn't surprise me. Cc'ing Rob in case somehow we have the wrong build in the en-us directory.

That's what I thought. Downloaded it form the Free Download small banner link on the main page at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/ (the Free Download link shows http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=thunderbird-1.5.0.8&os=win&lang=en-US )

I have en-GB build and "Deleted" comes from there. Not a bug as far as en-GB is concerned.

I understand in the en-GB version, "Deleted" is standard. However, I downloaded from the en-US link. It may be that the wrong version was there or that it's finding a en-GB pak somewhere on my system when it installs.

I just checked, it definitely has an en-US.xpi inside not en-GB. Have you tried to reproduce this? Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling (maybe old en-GB build lying around?)

Was the wrong build in the directory originally? I had uninstalled, redownloaded from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/ and installed several times all with the same results. Tonight, I again did this and got the correct en-US installation.
Each time I had uninstalled through Windows Add/Remove programs, then deleted the program directory to make sure. On the 11-27 after it was suggested maybe I had a different language build, I downloaded a fresh copy from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/ and used it for each install and still got a en-GB build as I discoverd in comment #5. I was begining to think the problem was in my user profile directory or a registry entry. This is why I ask if perhaps the wrong build was in the en-US directory and someone caught it since. I am changing the bug to fixed.
