Details
This problem is present only in the 3.x branch on Mac as far as I can tell.
The problem is that the Preferences window flickers and 'jumps' when switching between various panels.
To reproduce:
- Open "Thunderbird->Preferences..."
- Click the 'Composition' option along the top of the window
- Click the 'Privacy' option
- Watch the dialog window 'flicker' and 'jump' while re-drawing
- Click back on 'Composition'
- Again watch the 'dance'
- Repeat as needed.
Note: This problem is not limited to switching between these two panes. It is just very easy to see with these two.

If this is Mac / trunk builds only, then I suspect it's fall out from the switch to turn Cairo on by default for all the mac mozilla builds. There are a lot of performance problems with the new graphics stuff on Mac right now I think....

Cocoa, rather than Cairo, this time, but the idea's the same...
