User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061113 Firefox/2.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061113 Firefox/2.0

There are a number of UI issues that cause this to happen.

1) There is no item on the "Calendar" menu that Lightining inserts
into Thunderbird to create a new event.

2) Because of 1) I have to select the Calendars tab, select the Calendar
(even though I only have one) then right click to get "New Event".

3) Once I've done 2 I can't then return back to view email messages
which means I can't see the information for the event I was trying to
create.

Having drag and drop ics files doesn't help fix this problem. Lightining
is basically lacking UI elements and is too modal.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
See details.

Expected Results:
There should be a New Event item on the Calendar menu in the Thunderbird
menu bar. I can already select which calendar the event is for in the
dialog for entering the event details so that shouldn't prevent this
being there.

The new event dialog shouldn't be modal (and the save button should be at the
bottom not the top!).

Use Menu 'File -> New -> Event' or use the New Event toolbar button

Click one of the mail folders in the folder pane to return to mail mode.
The first bit of this worked, I now have a lovely shinny new tool bar
with buttons for "New Event" and Week/Month Views. Thanks.

The second part however doesn't work. While I am editing the new event
I no amount of clicking anywhere in the original Thunderbird window
allows me to return select an email message or even move within the one
that was already selected. The "New Event" dialog appears to be
full application modal.

The only remaining issue is about the event dialog being modal -> Resolving as duplicate of Bug 356833.
