User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 When i open the firefox application, everything is fine. So the first firefox window that opens has no problems. I can then open as many new firefox windows as i like, and everything will work fine. I then close the window (or all the windows if there were more than one) and leave firefox running in the background in the usual way. I then open a new firefox window. The toolbar icons do not appear where they ought to, they have shifted into the address bar (screenshot link provided below), and if i click on any of them, they disappear behind the address bar. I have three icons in that toolbar, home, fire ftp, and refresh. If i scroll over the location that the "home" icon ought to appear at, it suddenly appears. Ditto the "refresh". The "fire ftp" icon does not appear, but, if i click on the empty space where it ought to be, then the ftp program does come up fully functioning.<br><br>http://www.jonathanriley.net/fire_bug.html Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.open firefox program 2.keep program running, but close all windows 3.open a new window Actual Results: toolbar icons open *in* address bar Expected Results: toolbar icons should open *next to* address bar
update 1: It's something to do with admin status on the computer. Still looking into it.
update 2, I am the computer's admin and at my admin login, firefox worked fine 100% of the time. Only the user accounts had the problem with the shifted icons. I have done a little surgery in the computer's "accounts" settings and now all seems well across all accounts. I dont know who's bug this is, yours or apple's, or else maybe my incompetent admining was entirely to blame! As far as i can tell, if i put a shortcut from firefox in the applications folder onto the user accounts' desktop, and then tried to change the preferences in firefox from those user accounts, firefox seemed to get confused--was it going to obey admin preferences or user accounts'? My get around is that i now have a firefox application installed seperately at admin (in the applications folder), and at each user account (in the documents folder). This of course can't be right, and seems as ugly AS SIN, but it works at least till i find a better way. Just letting you know...
(In reply to comment #0) > functioning.<br><br>http://www.jonathanriley.net/fire_bug.html There are neither a toolbar nor a bookmark bar. How is the display of the toolbar customized? And are any Extension installed?
Sorry, it'll have to wait until tomorrow, i'm just too busy today :-/ Thanks for the pointer though, Hiro.
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

I have just tried to recreate the problem (working as best i can from memory and with the aid of my notes above) and have been unable to do so. I'll call it a worksforme then.
