User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 Build Identifier: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-2.0&os=win&lang=fr When starting Firefox 2.0 everything looks fine until I create a new tab. When focusing on the new tab, the URL of the 1st tab is still shown (should be the URL of the new tab... blank) and is not related to the new tab. So no way to display anything in the new tab. It is not possible also to close the new tab. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start firefox 2.Create a new tab (focus on it) 3.Update the url / Try to close the tab Actual Results: 1- is ok 2- The URL bar still shows the initial tab URL 3- Firefox cannot link the URL bar to the new tab / No way to close the tabs, tabs are lost (disappear from the screen) Expected Results: When creating a new tab, the URL bar should be reset and focus on the new tab. Any URL in the bar should relate to the tab that has the focus. This bug appeared very simply just after product installation when creating my first new tab... I'm just wondering how it is possible that such a critical one went through tests... I'm running on Windows XP 2002 family edition service pack 2 Pentium M 1.4GHz processor, 512 Mo Ram

I can't reproduce this, and would guess the problem is either a) an extension/theme misbehaving b) the Firefox 2 install bug For a) try Safe Mode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode) and use the "Continue to safe mode" button so as to only disable extensions/themes. If that does not fix it then you should make sure Firefox is completely closed (eg no firefox.exe in the process list of the windows task manager) and reinstall Firefox 2.
Severity: critical → normal
I just re-installed Firefox 2.0 and the bug is gone. On first installation I left Firefox 1.5 running and left the install taking care of shutting it down. At the end of the install I also did not have the same behaviour (no Welcome page + Home page tab) as what I had just now. Seems there is a problem with install when firefox is still running... I think you can close the ticket... Thank you for the quick answer ! Laurent
