If you try accessing the Royal Mail's website using FF3.0 or any version of SeaMonkey you get a rather scrunched up looking page, with some banners appearing to the side of the main page rather than at the bottom of the page. Most of the text input fields and drop down boxes do not work either.
If you set your UA string to be FF1.5.x or FF2.x the page displays correctly with working input fields / drop downs.
Seems like site is not sniffing correctly and default is probably IE.

Is this still a problem? Camino is typically vulnerable to this sort of thing too, and the site renders identically in Firefox 2 and Camino-trunk for me.

Yes, this now looks like it has been fixed using SM trunk too.
JS code has been changed to take account of agent strings for Gecko browsers but still doesn't feature sniff (so not prefect).
