Example:  If I do a Google search and click on the resultant links - - each click on a link DOES NOT open a new window.  An already existing window is used. Argggg

If I click on Tools/Options/Tabs I see that "New pages S/B opened in a new window" is selected.

Is this the nature of the beast or is there something I can do to make Firefox open a new window for every new page?



Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Google search
2.click on link presented by Goggle
3.go back to Google search page and click on another link

Actual Results:  
same window is used for latest link clicked on (see details above)

Expected Results:  
The new page in a NEW WINDOW

I'm asked about severity in the box below.  For me the severity is high because the way it currently works it costs me a lot of time and frustration.  And sometimes I forget I have to use the back arrow to get back to a page I wanted to study further and I lose that page (sometimes temporarily and sometimes for good).  That's a BIG BUMMER!!!

You can set that on the Google preferences page: http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en
In that case you need to accept and keep the cookie.
Or use the target new windows bookmarklet: http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/pagelinks.html

Regarding the Google preferences page:  "Open search results in a new browser window" was already set (checked).  I rechecked it and saved it again but it still opens the "later" links I click on in the same window - thus overwriting what was in that window.  I can click on the back key but as I said before that can get ugly.

Regarding the target new windows bookmarklet:  When I click on that link I get a 404 Not Found.

Regarding the Mozillazine Forums:  I'll give it a shot.

You need to drag to button "target new windows" to your bookmarks toolbar and click on it when you want to open all links on a specific page in a new window.

Still no joy.

I drug the button "target new windows" to my bookmarks toolbar but that doesn't do what I want to do.  When I click on "target new windows" it wants to open ALL LINKS at once (hundreds of them).  YIKES!!!

What I want is this: every time I click on a new link I want a new window to open.

Am I correct in assuming I'm asking for something that FireFox and Google aren't currently capable of?
