I'm using a3 weeks old MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo (Intel) - with 10.4.8 and Camino 1.0.3. I have been using Camino the very first releases from 10.1.5 and until now, and there has been hardly any problems.
Two night ago Camino crashed, I didn't think much of it (it happens very seldomly, but it happens) - just re-started Camino and everything was as normal. Last night I booted my laptop and started Camino and got the message that the 'bookmarks.plist was corrupted and could not be read' = I've tried to look at the problem, but all I could recover was the browsing history (which was never really lost anyway) --> but my bookmarks are gone.

The log did not inform me of more that what others have reported.

I have installed the latest 'nightly build' and I can see that there is now a bookmarks.plist.bak file being written.

BUT, I would really think it would be better to sticks with a more traditional bookmarks.html file just as FireFox does - much better to understand and easier to capture in an automated backup?

It's no easier or more difficult to automatically back up a .plist file than a .html file (and it's much easier to write a .plist than a .html file).

As you've noticed, the nightly builds have automatic backup and restore in case of corruption, and Camino 1.0.4 will have this as well.

If you check your Console.log for messages from Camino around the time you last quit Camino before the corruption, and when you restarted Camino and saw the corruption, are there any interesting messages (anything different than already reported in bug 337750)?
Status: RESOLVED → VERIFIED
I looked through the log files and there is not much to add to what is already known - except the incident seems to happen when quitting Camino, before I powered down the laptop.

2006-12-18 21:17:55.588 Camino[210] writePropertyList: Failed to write file /Users/Gregers/Library/Application Support/Camino/bookmarks.plist

This is what happened when I "powered up" the next day:

Warning: unrecognized command line flag -psn_0_1310721
2006-12-19 19:03:57.633 Camino[267] Copied corrupted bookmarks file to /Users/Gregers/Library/Application Support/Camino/bookmarks-corrupted-1.plist

The only other thing I could mention would be that the laptop had been on 'sleep' mode for several hours before I returned and finished off some work which lasted another couple of hours.

Sorry for my bitching ...
