Details
TB 2b1-1215, Win2K. I typically put my (desktop) system into standby overnight, and waking up the next morning, start noticing some sluggishness, which Task Manager shows to be Thunderbird drawing down 50-70% of the CPU. Today I loaded Task Manager as soon as the system woke up, and saw the same result; at the same time, I verified in my firewall's monitor that TB hadn't even started checking for new mail yet.
The only solution I've seen is restarting. When I quit TB, it takes a little longer than normal, but the process does completely exit reasonably quickly.
Then I restarted TB, put the system into standby, and woke it up immediately; this time, there was no undue CPU usage. Maybe the problem has to do with being asleep when the check-for-new-mail timer elapses; or maybe it's due to going to sleep before midnight and waking up after...?
I'll test later going into standby for fifteen minutes.
