User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; fr; rv:18.104.22.168) Gecko/20061115 Ubuntu/dapper-security Firefox/22.214.171.124 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:126.96.36.199) Gecko/20061206 Firefox/188.8.131.52 I defined an SVG font (using batik-ttf2svg). Its display in Firefox184.108.40.206 for Ubuntu (Dapper) is just fine, while under Firefox220.127.116.11 for Windows (XP) it is awfully dotted and unreadable. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. get the SCRIPTIN.ttf font from http://www.dafont.com/fr/scriptina.font 2. get batik's binary distribution (for ttf2svg) from http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/xml/batik 3. make svg file from font by running: java -jar batik-ttf2svg.jar SCRIPTIN.ttf -l 48 -h 57 -o scriptina_testcard.svg -testcard 4. correct scriptina_testcard.svg header to display in firefox by setting beginning of content to <?xml version="1.0" standalone="no"?> <svg width="100%" height="100%" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" > (actually adding namespace and removing doc-type) Actual Results: display the resul svg file in Firefox: will look great under Ubuntu and bad under Windows. Expected Results: I'd like the font to display well under Windows too. I'll try to attach a screenshot of the 2 displays and the generated svg font file... feel free to mail me if you want them. I guess it is not a problem of batik's ttf2svg since the characters display well under Ubuntu.
Created attachment 249430 [details] illustration of the bug screenshot of svg font display under linux and windows; windows is brooken
Created attachment 249431 [details] incriminated svg font file example broken svg file. displays badly under Windows with Firefox 18.104.22.168... and well under Ubuntu with Firefox 22.214.171.124.
Just tested with Minefield/Gran Paradiso Alpha 1 and it is not solved... still displaying badly. for info: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20061218 Minefield/3.0a1|
That svg is using tags from the font module which is not yet implemented in Firefox, see http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/SVG_in_Firefox_1.5#Element_implementation_status
not a bug but an implementation request than. How can I vote for such implementation request? It shows well on Ubuntu because the font is installed as system font, and displays better under Ubuntu than windows, even in OpenOffice.
changing to invalid as it is not-implemented feature and not a bug.
