Have you tried:
- Firefox's safe-mode to exclude extension/theme problems
- a reinstall in a new empty folder
- a new profile?

My Firefox 2.0.0.3 produces those lags, too, since Tuesday or so, 4 days ago.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3
I tried all of your suggestions above, it does not relieve nor influence the issue. Additionally, I first updated (to no avail) and then de-installed my add-ons, which were:
- KeyScrambler Personal
- FlashGot
- Gmail Space
- FireFTP
- Flash Blocker
My lag (or should I call it a hitch?) comes in completely regular intervals every 15 seconds and lasts 3 seconds each time. Firefox remembers (caches, stores) any action taken by me during these lags (keystrokes, mouseklicks, scrolling etc.) and corretly performs the corresponding reactions, but for these 3 seconds it completely freezes.
Any flash or otherwise animated content stops playing, downloads stop their progress, large images stop gaining resolution, scrolling motion stops, the whole window is motionless, except for the dot-circle in the top right corner, which faithfully keeps turning if it has done so before the lag, and my mouse pointer.
These lags, or hitches, effectively ruin the browsing experience. What's especially galling is that I had to start using IE7, since I need the internet for my work.
I'm buying steak dinner for the one who solves this, if they can be bothered to come to Graz, Austria. I mean this. I do NOT want to work with IE7.
I have this exact same problem with identical symptoms.
I have uninstalled everything, did major virus checks on my system and reinstalled Firefox into a different directory. I am trying to think back to what I did differently when it all started happening.
I do recall downloading and trying to install Alexa Toolbar which I uninstalled right afterwards.
This has been happening for at least a month now.
I have uninstalled any extensions or toolbars and am running Firefox bare and it still has these problems same as user's in previous post
There is about a 2 second lag whenever I am doing any of the following:
Typing into forms
Scrolling
It is highly annoying and hope someone can help since I miss using it and have had to regress to using IE :(
I found a fix. I uninstalled Version 2 and went back to version 1.5 and it doesn't happen in this version. Obviously a bug in V2.
Hope you get this fixed in the future so I can upgrade to latest/greatest ;)

Reporter, can you still reproduce the problem using the latest Firefox version?
If not, can you resolve this bug as WORKSFORME?

Can you reproduce with Firefox 3.5 or later?

No reply, INCO. Please reopen if this still happens in Firefox 3.5.1 or later in Firefox Safe Mode or a new Profile.
