In Yahoo.com mail, there are three major frames on the display: the folders, summary and text frames. Whether I try to make the folders (left hand) or summary (top right) frames smaller or larger, they ONLY get LARGER, until they reach their own limit, then they won't change. I cannot return them to a smaller size. I have tried this on Internet Explorer, and there is no problem resizing the frames in either vertical or horizontal, so it must be Firefox.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. get into Yahoo Mail
2. try to resize the top right frame (mail summary) or left hand frame (folders)
3. the frames described will ONLY get LARGER, and cannot be returned to the correct size
Actual Results:
Each time, the frames got larger, and by an unpredictable amount having little to do with my cursor (grabby) movement. They reached a maximum, then would not change at all.
Expected Results:
When you grab a frame boundary, the frame should change size depending on where you drag the grabby to. It should be changeable to either larger or smaller size, and the amount of change should be dependent on the cursor and mouse button.
I tried this operation in Internet Explorer, and the frame resize works properly and predictably. I think this has been a problem for the past two updates of Firefox I have received. Otherwise, I far prefer Firefox to IE!

Works for me, Firefox 2.0.0.1 on Linux.
Does it work if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (it temporarily disables
plugins and extensions, this test will help narrow down the cause of the
problem)

Tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode as recommended. The bug described does NOT occur when Firefox started in safe mode; the frames resize as they should.

Thanks for testing. That makes it very likely it's one of your Firefox
Add-ons or themes that is causing the problem. Please start Firefox in
normal mode and then the menu "Tools->Add-ons" and disable them one-by-one
to see which one is causing the problem (restart Firefox each time).

Thanks, Mats. I only had one add-on, and it was not my doing but happened automatically. Skype put an add-on in when it updated itself. When I disabled the add-on, the frames resized as expected. Where to from here? Do I notify Skype of its problem? Do I leave its add-on disabled? Thanks for the diagnosis!

That's not very nice of them in my opinion, but not something we can prevent.

Yes, please notify them of the problem. Give them the link to this bug.
It would be interesting to hear what they say about it, if it's a bug
in Firefox (unlikely) or in their add-on.
> Do I leave its add-on disabled?
It's up to you. If everything seems to be working without it I don't see
the need to have it enabled.

Howard, did you get any response from the Skype folks?

Nope. They didn't have any comment at all. I have simply disabled all Skype extensions so that I can change the frame sizes. They don't seem to be too responsive to users.
Thanks for staying on top of it, Mats.

The bug is most likely in the Skype add-on.
