Currently the FAQ mentions that Sunbird works with iCal since the use the same file format. However, I think a note like the following should be added:

Note that iCal is currently not capable of cooperatively editing a network calendar file. If iCal is given write access to a network calendar file it assumes that it owns it and will overwrite any changes made from a different application (like Calendar/Sunbird). Calendar/Sunbird are capable of editing a networked calendar and incorporating edits made from another computer.

Reproducible: Always

I had assumed at first that I could share and edit the same calendar file from iCal and Sunbird (Windows). Only after experimentation did I discover that iCal keeps a local version of the calendar and overwrites the networked copy (and any changes made by another application). As far as I know and have experienced Sunbird does a decent job of allowing a calendar file to be edited from multiple machines.
Fixed with a slightly shortened explanation.
