User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 I recently upgraded from 1.5.0.7 to 1.5.0.9 without installing any new applications. I then started to experience random freezes when I have firefox running on my computer (Windoze XP SP1). I must then reboot my computer and then I will start firefox up again and it will again freeze (sometimes it's 4 minutes later, sometimes 1 hour later). I'm not sure what the problem is because I haven't installed anything lately, therefore I tried reverting back to 1.5.0.7 and now even it freezes on me!! (Perhaps that is because I did not actually "uninstall" 1.5.0.9, I just installed over it??) Please advise!! Is this a known bug within 1.5.0.9?? Thanks Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Firefox 2.Browse the web and enjoy a random all-computer-freeze-up. 3.Rinse & repeat. Actual Results: Entire computer froze and I had to reboot. Expected Results: not froze. Happens on: Dell 4600 2.6ghz Windoze XP SP1 NOD32 Virus Antivirus Radeon 9800PRO 512 RAM
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs for diagnostics. Could first try safe-mode to exclude extension/theme problems: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode_(Firefox)
Firefox can't freeze the whole OS. The reason why Firefox can't do this is that Firefox is a userspace application and it doesn't install drivers that are running in the kernel mode. Your problem looks like a problem with hardware or with a driver like the graphic card driver, network card driver, firewall or antivirus driver). marking invalid (bugzilla is not for support questions).
