This would be particularly useful for feeds. Articles can often contain flash videos players but must be opened in a browser in order to be played. It would be great to play them right in Thunderbird. Reproducible: Always

Isn't this actually working on trunk? At least on linux the plugins (same as in firefox) show up on the Add-ons dialog.
Yeah, but only if they are installed on the system. If not you don't get a notification bar like in Firefox to install the missing plugin. But even with installed Flash plugin I'm not able to see embedded swf movies within a subscribed news feed. David, do I have to set a pref to allow playing of flash movies in Thunderbird?
We definitely need this to be easier. I want to install the Flash plugins for Tb nightly/Linux but I'm having to figure out the best place to do this. I can refer to my Firefox installs but I'm not even sure if that's the best guide.
Flags: wanted-thunderbird3? → wanted-thunderbird3-
Any chance to make that tweak for the Windows version of TB (188.8.131.52)? Or how can I identify the correct files of the Flash Plugin and copy them to the "plugins" folder?
In Thunderbird 3 do this to make flash work in Content Tabs: Copy /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so (or download from adobe website) to ~/.mozilla-thunderbird/plugins/ Set mailnews.message_display.allow.plugins to true I didn't have to set mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_images to false since I was only trying to get flash to work in Content Tabs so I could watch videos in google wave.
