User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1 When updating Firefox, only the latest version of the current "branch" is installed. There is no sign of newer "branches" (by branch I mean the 1.0.x, 1.5.x or 2.0.x ones). I mean that if I have version 1.5.0.8 then I will be able to automatically update to version 1.5.0.9 but in no way I will be aware that there is a 2.0.x branch and given the option to download and install that one. This is really a pity as I've found many of my friends (not much tech-savvy) who were still on 1.0.7 !! Thanks Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. click on the Update icon Actual Results: 2. update to the latest of same branch Expected Results: 3. no indicator of newer branch
Updates to 2.0.0.x aren't yet offered to 1.5.0.x users, but it is possible and the plan is to make it happen. Hopefully this month too, but I'm not involved in that decision. The updater in 1.0.x wasn't very good, and many people ignored the icon next the throbber in any case. If they also don't see the tips on the default homepage, then they are indeed marooned on 1.0.x. So, the bug is not valid, but thanks for taking an interest.
