Without Penelope extension, the Tab key usually auto-completes an address and skips to the next "field".
With Penelope extension and Penelope key bindings, Tab does nothing.

Even more strangely, if Penelope is enabled but uses the Thunderbird key bindings, then hitting Tab in the To: field pops up the Attach Files window.
This also occurs if I try to use formatting shortcuts (Ctrl-B, Ctrl-I, etc.) in the Body.

1. File->New->Message
2. In To: field, hit Tab key
Actual Results:  
Attach Files window pops up

Expected Results:  
Cursor moves to Subject: field

Still happening with 0.1a12 and TB 2007030503.
Is it just a Linux thing?

This problem, in a similar form, is present on Windows as well. TAB does not do anything, ie, does not move to next field nor does it move to attachments. It is a problem in the extension.

In my testing I have found the following:

- With penelope-a14, and windows thunderbird 3.0alpha the problem does not occur.
- With thunderbird 2.0.0pre and no penelope extension the problem doesn't occur
- With thunderbird 2.0.0pre and penelope extension the problem does occur
- With Linux built from CVS and penelope extension problem does not occur

When I examine the DOM for the case with the problem and without the problem I see the same mappings for VK_TAB all of which have modifiers. Even in the scenario with no penelope extension, I do not see a definition for VK_TAB with no modifier.

I do not presently know why this is behaving differently, only on windows and only for the 2.0 and not 3.0 branch.

I just downloaded the thunderbird 2.0.0pre build for linux and installed penelope-0.1a14 and on that combination I do see the problem behavior.

The latest version of the code does not exhibit the bug. I have created penelope-0.1a15 in mozilla CVS on MOZILLA_1_8_BRANCH that fixes this bug.

This needs to be reopened. The problem occurs for me on Mac OS 10.5.7/Eudora 8.0b7 -- can't tab between *any* fields in a compose window with Penelope bindings. May be related to the "keyboard shortcuts don't work" bug that's fixed but not yet released, but it makes it hard to use Eudora as easily as 6.2.4.
