User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; da; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; da; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 I have used Firefox for a while now without problems. But today it began to shut down every time I started to use it. I open the browser, types an URL adress and click "GO" - then a message saying "runtime error" appears and the browser shots down. I can send the report to Microsoft and the say the problem poccurs in Mozilla firefox. It doesn't matter what adress I want to go to - it shuts down no matter what. I have downloaded and installed it again and again, but that doesn't help either. So now I can't use the browser anymore. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open the browser 2.Type an URL or click a link on my startpage (QXL.dk) or any other site 3.Message appears saying "runtime error" and telling me the program will be shut down Actual Results: Mozilla Firefox closes. Expected Results: Continued to work as normal - for surfing the internet I haven't downloaded anything from Microsoft or anywhere else.It hust started to do what it does without warning.
Do you have Talkback installed ? That would give us useful debug information. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Talkback

I tried to click the libk you inserted here but again I got the error message. I looked in the file where my firefox is installed and there was the program talkback. I installed it, but how can i see if it reports the chrashes ?
Jette got Talkback running with some help over email, yielding these crash reports: TB28159445X, TB28152344Z, TB28152321X Stacks are all the same: kernel32.dll + 0x12a5b (0x7c812a5b) MSVCR71.dll + 0x19aed (0x7c359aed) engodcomp.dll + 0x18180 (0x03f18180) nsHTMLInputElement::GetControllers [mozilla/content/html/content/src/nsHTMLInputElement.cpp, line 2036] 0x0b75c785 Google doesn't yield any info engodcomp.dll. Jette, are you running any software that remembers passwords & form data outside of Firefox ? Or any other helper application ? Have you scanned your computer for spyware/malware recently ? (Let's keep communication on the bug now).
I have just scanned my computer with "Spybot - search and destroy". It found 6 or 7 problems, which were al fixed. But that didn't help either - it still crashes. I search my computer for the file engodcomp.dll and that turned up in programs\mozilla firefox\components. Should it be there ?
(In reply to comment #4) > Should it be there ? No idea, but you could try moving it elsewhere while Firefox is closed. Then load up Firefox and see if it crashes.
Jette, Were you able to try out the suggestion in comment #5, or were you able to resolve this issue in another way? Can you reproduce it with the latest version of Firefox and a clean profile? I don't have engodcomp.dll installed in my firefox/components directory in either 2.0.0.4 or trunk. If that is indeed causing the problem, as it appears to be, this wouldn't seem to be a Firefox bug.
