Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061101 SeaMonkey/1.1b Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061101 SeaMonkey/1.1b I was doing smoke tests for the composer as in QA -> Smoke test -> E.4 | Basic editing manipulations | Embolden, italicise, underline and color the text. When I double click on a word, and select "embolden" or any other operation, the operation affects only the selected word. Even selecting the color of the word, changes only the selected word. But if I change the color of the background, it changes the color of the whole page. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Composer 2. write some text, double click on a word, as to select it 3. Click on the icon " choose color for background" next to the "choose color for text". Select any color you want 5. See that the background color of the whole page changes additional: 6. select another word 7. Click on the icon " choose color for background" next to the "choose color for text". Select any new color you want 8. See that the background color of the whole page changes again Actual Results: The whole page background color changes from e.g. white to green. Expected Results: I would expect that only the selected word would have a background color change. The whole page should stay of the same color as it was before. By selecting another word, I would expect that only the selected word to change and keep the previous colors on early words. E.g. as before, select the second word, and change from green to blue, and the whole page will be blue. Tested only on this release. I don't remember if it was working the same on older releases, as I don't have them installed anymore.
It's more or less a dupe of Bug 318600 (HTML mail uses the composer window).

Serge: Why don't you test yourself before commenting :)? I marked this bug as NEW and this bug is still valid with 1.1.9 and trunk.

(In reply to comment #3) > Serge: Why don't you test yourself before commenting :)? Because I am "mass-triaging" from a BugZilla point of view, no time to test all the bugs (now).
Still here... User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:16.0) Gecko/16.0 Firefox/16.0 SeaMonkey/2.13a1 Build identifier: 20120712003002

While same symptoms from shared components will occur on SM Mail and TB compositions (with several bugs around which I'm trying to consolidate), this is reported explicitly against SM HTML Editor aka Composer, so it's a dupe of bug 97840.
