User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.8.0.8) Gecko/20061109 CentOS/1.5.0.8-0.1.el4.centos4 Firefox/1.5.0.8 pango-text Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 1.5.0.9 (20061207) I've found couple of very old closed bug reports with similar issues. There's also bug #315830. However in my case, it is not only the newline added at the end, Thunderbirds corrupts entire attachment. When inline forwarding email with quoted-printable PDF attachment (email originaly generated by Outlook), Thunderbird will re-encode attachment using base64. The problem is, when doing quoted-printable to base64, it corrupts the attachment. In case of PDF documents, sometimes Acrobat Reader is able to display it, sometimes they are so corrupted that Acrobat Reader just displays blank pages or can't open the document at all. This happens only when using inline forwarding and the attachment in original email was quoted-printable encoded. When using forward as attachment or when original attachment was already base64 encoded, all works fine (probably because Thunderbird does not recode attachment in this case). I'll attach two eml files to this email. Both are forwards of the same email. One contains the email forwarded as inline. The other contains email forwarded as attachment. You'll notice that PDF document size in inline forwarded email changed by 53 bytes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have an email with quoted-printable encoded PDF attachment (Outlook should be able to generate it). 2. Forward it as inline (corrupts attachment) 3. Forward it as attachment (attachment OK)

Have you tried a TB 2.0 beta build to see if this problem still happens? Here's release candidate 1 for beta 2: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/2.0b2-candidates/rc1

Any chance of fix being backported to 1.5.0.x?
