User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061208 Firefox/2.0.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061208 Firefox/2.0.0.1 I, like many others i suppose, am using google as my homepage in Firefox. I also use the key combination C-N, C-L very often to open a new window and load up something completely unrelated to what i was looking at before (in fact, that's the only reason to open a new window for me; for things that belong together, i use tabs). One little annoyance that always bugged me was that if i was having a slow network connection or whatever, so google took some seconds to load, and i already typed in some of the address i wanted to go to, google's search field would steal my focus. I think older versions of Firefox even replaced my already-typed letters with www.google.de after finishing loading it. So what i would like to see could be called "strict focus" for the address bar. It could be tied to the C-L hotkey i guess, but it might be a good thing for user *clicking* into the address bar (and immediately starting to type afterwards), too. Call this a humble request of mine that would make my firefox experience complete :-) -Robert Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Have a slow-loading webpage with a submit form set as your homepage 2.Have the option set to open new windows with your homepage 3.Open a new window and switch to its address bar (C-N, C-L) 4.Type something before the page loads Actual Results: Watch as the page steals your keyboard focus from the address bar :-) Expected Results: Keep the focus on the address bar when i just manually switched to it (and/or i was typing into it)
