User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; es-ES; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1 Build Identifier: versión 1.5.0.9 (20061207) I use thunderbird to access various mails servers, imap, pop3 and pop3+ssl. I usually open my laptop and access to mail and close to suspend it. When open again many times thunderbird hangs and need to restart it manually. I have a imap server, my principal email account, and has a lot of timeout messages (but this can be a isp problem...) Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Turn on laptop 2. Open thunderbird and read all messages of various accounts (imap, pop3 and pop3+ssl) 3. Read some emails. 4. Suspend laptop closing screen. 5. After a while reopen laptop screen and unsuspend it. 6. Try to open thunderbird (which is on foreground) and crashes. Actual Results: I need to kill process manually and restart program. Very tedious and boring. Expected Results: Dont hang program or has a restart mode like firefox, or similar. This is most strange, program cant detect that is a bug and dont show any log error to send.

You're on OSX. Use sampler.app and find out what it's doing. There are howtos that explain how to use it (warning: we want a text attachment, not a binary, and not a rich text file).
Severity: critical → minor
Summary: Crash randomly → thunderbird hangs after resume
Excuse me, First: -Why do you change severity without my permision? Second, i dont have sampler.app or similar debug tools, why i can find it? I have fink installed on his lastest unstable version.
Severity: minor → critical
Uhm... I see you are one of developers of thunderbird. I'm not a guru programmer, how i can debug these error? Thunderbird hangs a lot on my system.
A search for: "sampler.app mozilla" would have worked wonders: http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Debugging_a_hang_on_OS_X It is expected that anyone reporting a bug using Bugzilla be willing to use Google to do a minimal amount of research. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#bug_severity please read the description. your bug does not count as critical, it is not a crash. Other than the reporter field, reporters do not own any fields in bugs. The assignee owns priority, and severity and most of the rest are owned by the collective (severity is generally governed according to the url i listed above). This bug is not more than major in severity, but i don't want to see it on any flags until you provide a stack. However, given that you have been able to do a bit of research, we'll leave it at normal and it can be raised after the research is done if appropriate.

I think is a problem of foreground mode. When you close windows on mac os x, you have program on background. When you open again is when thunderbird fails. I test it on a intel macbook pro and have same effect. I'm thinking to change my email client, its very tedious to reload thunderbird many times a day. If i can do something else to get a better report, say to me. Because sampler.app are inefficient to get nothing.
