What specifically points to Firefox being in safe mode? Do you get the yellow notification bar along the top of the Add-ons Mgr. that states it is in safe mode?
I get a stupid box that says I am in safe mode and then it says to do this that or the other and it changes nothing. The next time I start firefox it is in safe mode as again and I have to go through the same procedure. maybe I will take it out.
How are you launching Firefox? Have you changed any of your shortcuts? With Firefox not running does it bring up the safe mode dialog when you open firefox via Start -> Run -> type firefox.exe -> click OK?
I have an icon when I click on the start button, in that first menu there. It says safemode. Then when I click it I get the box with the list of things to do...that does not change anything.
Can you... (In reply to comment #3) >... With > Firefox not running does it bring up the safe mode dialog when you open firefox > via Start -> Run -> type firefox.exe -> click OK? then report back if safe mode comes up...
If I do the directions that you said in comment three I do not get the safe mode box

It appears that someone / something added the safe mode command line option to the shortcut you are using to start Firefox. You can either download and install Firefox again to have the installer fix your shortcut or you can get assistance in the forums on how to modify window shortcuts. Also, by default the shortcuts provided by the app to start the app will be located on your desktop and quicklaunch bar and will be named Mozilla Firefox and there will be two inside of start -> all programs -> Mozilla Firefox directory. One will be named Mozilla Firefox and the other one will be named Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). You can use the one named Mozilla Firefox *without* safe mode.
