User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 After 3 attempts, Windows XP X-64 crashes while installing 22.214.171.124 update for Firefox. If I click HELP>CHECK FOR UPDATES... and then click DOWNLOAD & INSTALL NOW, the progress bar will reach about half the way and freeze. A few seconds later, the operating system will be come unusable and CTRL ALT DEL does not function to terminate the task. The operating system entirely freezes. I'm obviously not updating to 126.96.36.199 after 3 attempts until this gets resolved. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. HELP>CHECK FOR UPDATES 2. Click DOWNLOAD & INSTALL NOW 3. Wait ... Actual Results: WINDOWS FREEZES. Expected Results: Installed the update and restarted Firefox. Instead, after a hard reset, I get a non-functional Firefox, needing to reinstall from scratch.
Such a OS freeze or also a Blue Screen is a problem with the system itself, a driver issue or a hardware problem. Firefox as userspace application can't freeze the whole OS and it doesn't matter if you get this only with firefox.
