Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061208 Firefox/2.0.0.1
I've already had it a couple of times (5-6x) that firefox took over nearly 100% of my CPU load. I'm still able to use every feature of firefox but it takes some more time, and my PC is running wild the whole time. So I just have to restart firefox and everything works well again.
I can't really say how to reproduce it because it just happened randomly. Though I think I always had opened between 15-20 tabs.
Today it happened while updating many database fields using html-forms. Every page I submitted contained like 100k and I submitted about 50 pages. I just noticed it sometime in the middle of my process. But maybe there's no relationship between this and that.
I've let firefox run for about 6 hours today and it still was at 100% cpu load. So it has to be some kind of hang up of firefox.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

* Hyperthreading
I dont use hyperthreading
* User Agent Switcher
Havnet installed or updated the User Agent Switcher
* Hang opening new Firefox window
I dont use the SwitchProxy Extension
* Hang loading certain websites
Wouldnt keep firefox busy for 6 hours
* Hang downloading files / Hang saving images
Downloading works great and I havent downloaded anything the last time it hangs.
* Hang using page history
6 hours is not a short period of time
* Hang loading nonexistent sites
I dont use auto-config proxy
* Hang loading sites with Java, Flash, or PDF files
While firefox started to hang I havent used any of those.
* Hang after prolonged or extensive use
Memory isnt the problem, there still had been 1GB space on my swap the last time (screenshot)
* Microsoft Anti-Spyware
* McAfee Anti-virus
* Norton Anti-virus
* Outpost Pro Firewall
don't use any of those
* Extensions
the onliest problematic extension I'm using is ForcastFox, so Im going to check it the next time my firefox hangs
* Adobe Type Manager/Font issues
Dont have so many fonts

do you see this problem when using firefox 3?
Whiteboard: closeme 2009-01-20
It didn't happen in a very long time. As far as I remember never with Firefox 3, and I think the last versions of firefox 2 were fine too. But I don't really remember when I've seen it the last time.
So I think its okay to close this bug.
