It would be really useful if I could create URIs that point to specific mail messages. This would help organizing importang mails. For example, I could store a URI and be sure that I would find the respective email immediately, using that identifier.

Solutions like labeling a mail, or putting it into a specific folder, just won't cut it. Because new mails arrive and inserted on top of that.

Had I bookmarkable emails, I would be enabled to use any calendar program out there to associate, for instance, a meeting notice with some important mails.

Should be more or less dupe of bug 37653.

I think messageId != URI, so please don't classify this as duplicate. But surely, if 37653 is fixed, then the problem probably reduces into a id<-->URI mapping (almost, as URIs would have to be globally unique).
