Hi,

is there an API to open encrypted XPI files and encrypted JAR files? With many zip applications you may set a password to prevent opening the zipped file without password. Is there an API for XUL applications to tell the password to the component that unzipps the file to also do the decryption?

The idea is to publish customer related add ons for mozilla based applications but protect them by using a password on the XPI files and JAR files to make them usable only to the desired persons at the customer.

At the moment it seems that the related component responsible for unzipping does not detect encryption.

Reproducible: Always
Yes! That would make XULRunner based application development much more interesting for commercial projects. If this is not allready possible or not on any priority list, I would be interested to get in contact with someone who is able to realize it and add that implementation to the mozilla code base.
This is an RFE, therefore promoting from Moz-1.7 to Sm-trunk.

No action in over a year.
