I think I know what the problem is here, the onchange handler in the dropdown just calls "submit()", but the the select element doesn't have a form element as an ancestor due to invalid HTML. I think this could be solved by setting the parent script object for the script ofbect created for input/selec/... elements to the form element they belong to. I think this might be a dup of bug 22795 but I'm not sure yet. Rods, I don't think this bug belongs to you, if you don't wanto look into this, feel free to reassign it to me.

Nominating for NSBETA2, due to the inability to use Netcenter's TV GUIDE page correctly to show local listings.

i had a test case for the above bug that i marked a dup if it helps anyone ;)
Jan, can you please nominate this for NSBETA2? TVGuide doesn't work at all with this, and since it's a Netcenter CashCow thing, I'd like to see this resolved ASAP.

Rod's been on vacation all week, so nothing has happened with this bug. Johnny, since you have a handle on it, go ahead and take it. If it turns out to really be a layout issue, reassign to rod or myself. Nominating for nsbeta2 based on stephendonner@earthlink.net's comments that it's an important netcenter page. Alternately (simultaneously!) the Netcenter folks should be asked to clean up their HTML on this page. Eric, can you talk to Netcenter? Stephen, you're free to nominate a bug as well, you don't have to wait for a Netscape employee to do it. Simply add the nsbeta2 keyword to the Keywords field. That automatically generates a request for the PDT team to review the bug.

i have a question - does this not result in ie/netscape b/c they do things that don't follow the standard? i notice this happens on a lot more pages then just the tvguide one (http://www.maximonline.com - they seem to use a lot of javascript for things - see below), so would it be a good idea to contact the authors of those other pages to see if they will clean up their code as well? http://www.maximonline.com/stupid_fun/villains/ - click the vote now link and try and vote - you get this stdout error : JavaScript error: http://www.maximonline.com/stupid_fun/villains/match.asp line 22: document.formLay has no properties does this fall under the same "bug" as the tvguide thing? i'd be more then happy to contact some of these page authors to try to get them to clean-up code - but i'm just not sure what to "ask" of them adding myself to the cc list so i can follow this :)

chrisn could you please take this up with your Netcenter contacts to get the reportedly bad HTML on Netcenter examined and fixed however necessary? Please ask Netcenter folks to read this bug report, add selves to cc:, and work directly with reporter/participants/eng--I'm in the middle on too many things these days.
Adding Netcenter keyword.
Keywords: netcenter

I just checked in the fix for this, now form controls always have their form as the script object parent and thus they're always in the scope of the form they're associated with. Marking FIXED.
