User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1 Build Identifier: version 2 beta 2 (20070215) It would be great if there was a way to configure Thunderbird to trash any incoming mail that isn't from someone in your address book. Hotmail has this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
you can do this trivially with a mail filter. If <From> not in AB <personal AB> move to trash. I'm not sure it's the greatest idea, but you can do it.
Yes, I know, that's how I'm doing it now, the enhancement request was to see if there was general interest in making this a junk setting as it is in Hotmail.
Sounds too dangerous to me. If someone wants this functionality it's trivial for them to set up a filter to do it (as per comment 1).

Summary: Exclusive junk filter? → junk filter option to delete all mail from unknown senders
Related to Core bug 199622 or Core bug 120160?
Assignee: mscott → nobody
Blocks: junktracker
so it is agreed there currently isnt' a scenario where a patch would be taken in core code?
Whiteboard: [wontfix?]
I think this is a dupe of 199622, that was WONTFIXed in 2004.
