Details

I just learned of a user of BMO that often ran searches and got our Zarro boogs found message and got more frustrated with Bugzilla as a result. He described how he felt that the message meant that Bugzilla was some kind of elite club and users got that when they didn't pass muster.

His comments actually inspired me to change all the installations I manage to show "No match found." After thinking more about it, I realized that this too was inadequate. What was really needed was a link to a site-specific Bugzilla searching FAQ right afterward. That way, rather than appearing to say, "Hey bozo, you didn't give me the right combination to find what you wanted," adding the FAQ pointer leaves an impression that even though the user didn't find what they were looking for, here's a place where you can learn more about how to find your data.

As I see it, having a FAQ engine in Bugzilla would help administrators do a better job administrating their Bugzilla installations and give users a useful resource that was customized specifically to their installation. It would also give us another way to educate users more easily.

Okay - so this is actually two bugs. I'll leave this one to be just changing the default "Zarro Boogs found" to "No match found", then file a separate enhancement request for a FAQ engine.
