User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1 I usually save webpages that have a lot of files, and when saving such pages to a pendrive it takes a lot of time due to the high number of files. During this time I cannot use firefox web browser. I did not test it, but this could be extrapolated to a floppy. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Load a webpage with a lot of files, even if they are small 2. Save the webpage to a slow storage media like a pendrive (USB flash drive) 3. Check that you cannot use the browser while the webpage is being saved. Expected Results: The browser should save the actual webpage and let the continue using the browser while the page is being saved. The browser should realize that load another webpage in the same I am actually saving from.
1. Mozilla {Build ID: 2005070205} 2. Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.00 GHz 32-bit running Windows XP 3. Windows XP Home 32-bit The bug happens on Mozilla 1.8b2 it also happens on Firefox 2.0.0.3 and Gran Paradiso 3.0a3. It freezes the browser until the save finishes and comes back to normal state.
I've got the same problem on Gentoo Linux + x86.
Saving the same page (cnet.com, lets say) on a flash drive freezes firefox for a good 10 seconds (as files are being downloaded I suppose) whereas on IE8 a dialog appears that shows the progress of the files. Using FF3.5 btw.

I think firefox waits for the I/O to continue working.
