To reproduce:
1. Start the Firefox installer, select Custom setup and click through it
2. On the last setup page before installing deselect the "On my Desktop" and "In my Quick Launch bar" check boxes
3. Start installation

After installation look in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\FIREFOX.EXE\InstallInfo if there is a IconsVisible DWORD key: There is not. When the "On my Desktop" and/or "In my Quick Launch bar" check box is checked, then you can find a IconsVisible DWORD key with value 1 there. In the other case a IconsVisible DWORD key with value 0 should be found there.
