If you receive an encrypted message, the preview text we show in the animated alert is giberish. It would be nice if the code that decomposes the preview text could skip setting the preview text value if the msg has a content type of application/x-pkcs7-mime.
This behaviour is still present in the current nightly builds of thunderbird. I agree that showing nothing at all as a body preview in the preview pane is better than showing gibberish, however this makes the message indiscernible from truly empty messages. Showing a preview of the decrypted message is neither always possible nor always desireable. I would prefer a small icon, much like the one in the header pane (the locked padlock) and a notice like "message body is encrypted"

Is this still an issue with TB3? (What is the "animated alert"? Does this exist on the Mac build?)
(In reply to comment #2) > Is this still an issue with TB3? (What is the "animated alert"? Does this > exist on the Mac build?) It's probably growl on mac, and growl doesn't show the message content.

Dead duck?

I guess...Kai will know better.

I don't know what animated alert this might be about.

If it was growl as Ludo suspects, I found that Growl on Mac is a retired notification system.

Let's close as incomplete.
