User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060911 Camino/1.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060911 Camino/1.0.3 Camino would look better, and more OSXish, if the background behind the bookmark toolbar and the address bar area were identical. Also, there should be no seperator line between the bookmark toolbar and the address bar area. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
The line is a necessity of using the unified look. As for the color of the bookmark bar, bug 314602 spent a long time getting this right, and I'm happy with the result. I suggest WONTFIX.
(In reply to comment #1) > The line is a necessity of using the unified look. Not necessarily; if we had a bookmark bar background that blended into it smoothly, we could remove the line.
Why is the line necessary for the unified look? Although I don't like Safari as a browser, it blends the bookmark bar with the above area seamlessly. Perhaps brushed metal would be an easier skin to use for Camino. Great browser though.
We're unanimously agreed that brushed metal -- especially Apple's ever-changing idea of it -- is a bad idea and is generally ugly.
Well, given the decision in bug 314602 to start the gradient over in the bm bar (light top, rather than continuation of the bottom color of the main toolbar), I think we need the line to separate the two and make it not look odd. I also don't think anyone's going to convince smfr that his gradient prefs are wrong any time soon, ergo I think this is WONTFIX, too.
We should talk about this next week at the meeting, especially if Simon makes it.
[11:25am] <cl> pinkerton: any objections to a WONTFIX on 372109? [11:25am] <cl> especially given that we're already aware that *something* is going to need to be done to make us look better on 10.5 [11:26am] <pinkerton> i'm ok with that We'll WONTFIX this, and file other bugs (and fix existing bugs) as needed as part of the visual refresh for 10.5, where we already know that we have to do some work. What we've got now is good enough for 10.4, barring any earth-shattering ideas on how to make it better.
