User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070219 Firefox/2.0.0.2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070219 Firefox/2.0.0.2 After installing 3 Add-ons, am not able to install any more Add-ons. Get unexpected installation error. Error console lists two errors: Error: uncaught exception: Security Error: Content at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/139/ may not load data from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/extensions/image_zoom/image_zoom-0.2.7-fx+fl+mz+ns+zm+tb.xpi. Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsISafeOutputStream.finish]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js :: closeSafeFileOutputStream :: line 568" data: no] Source File: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js Line: 568 The above two errors occurred when I tried to download the image zoom 0.2.7 Add-on. Continue on: try to install Nuke Anything Enhanced 0.54: get 2 errors from error console: Error: uncaught exception: Security Error: Content at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/951/ may not load data from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/extensions/nuke_anything_enhanced/nuke_anything_enhanced-0.54-fx.xpi. Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsISafeOutputStream.finish]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js :: closeSafeFileOutputStream :: line 568" data: no] Source File: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js Line: 568 No matter what extension I try to load, I will get errors that mimic the above assuming I am downloading from the mozilla site. This behavior started happening with the release of firefox 2.0.0.1 and has continued with firefox 2.0.0.2. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Uninstall firefox. 2.Delete the Mozilla folder under Application Data for both the user and administrator accounts to insure that nothing is brought over from previous profiles. 3. Install firefox 2.0.0.2. 4. Log into your user account. 5. Start firefox. 6. Start installing Add-ons. Actual Results: After installing 3 add-ons (4 if you count the DOM Inspector that was installed with the firefox installation), I was unable to install any additional Add-ons. The installation errors from the error console were of the form listed above. Expected Results: Should be able to install additional Add-ons. I believe that JamesF1 has described the same problem at http://forums.mozillazine.org/posting.php?mode=quote&p=2687359&sid=fdf546b603abe6a09d30d7355ae53b59
Michael, could you please try installing Firefox 2.0.0.6 and see if the error still shows itself? Also, to completely remove Firefox you need to: 1. Uninstall from Add/Remove Programs 2. Delete Mozilla folder from Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data 3. Delete Mozilla folder from Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data Please let us know how it goes. Thank you.
