mail news account settings -> /account/ -> security -> certificates
better if it's will be
mail news account settings -> /account/ -> manage identites -> /identity/ -> security
advantage: not need to create different account for each of email aliases

i'm agree (thanks for link) : for admins/programmers solution in #252250 is enough, but NOT for end users.
not all users is advanced users, who can edit configuration manually.
Most of users can do any operations in GUI, but can't understand advanced operations - so theese REQUEST is open...
or project say to users: "write programm by yourself ... why you need UI for configuration - make all configurations in notepaad" ?
if yes - it's not correctly for end users.

Both bug 278549 and bug 252250 exist only and exactly to request UI added to the program. The background capability is already in place.
This bug is a dupe. You should not have reopened it.
