User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070221 SeaMonkey/1.1.1
Build Identifier:
When I search for bugs the results are so hard to read that
I have to give up.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. enter abc news video
2. try to locate something relevant
Actual Results:
I get flooded with irrelevant pages. bbc reports came up for abc news.
The box is so small that I can't see more than a few at a time.
The descriptions usually don't match.
Expected Results:
Put the search results on a separate page in a new window. Show
the context of the words. Search for closer words first. Look how google
does this. One can find useful things with google.
I have to give up searching most of the time because of the flood of irrelevant
hits.

No idea which URL/website you are referring to, but that's unrelated to Bugzilla.

Frederic: The abc news video case is and EXAMPLE of the problem.
It shows how one has this cramped space to work in to find one of hundreds
of pages. It is very awkward to work with that list - so awkward that I
invariably skim the first few and give up. It's easier to report a bug
and have someone else identify the related bugs than to spend hours
reading irrelevant bugs.
So I am marking this a a 'Reopen bug'. If it doesn't work for me, please
REOPEN THIS BUG. You were distracted by the example and missed the problem.
Thanks.

It is no surprise that 50% of the reported bugs already exist.
Finding the previously known issues is essentially impossible
and the tool made to do it is sub standard.

I think you're talking about the duplicates page on the guided reporting form?
Search results do come up on a new page, when you search normally. Perhaps the installation you're searching on has been customized in some bad way.
Feel free to post a URL that shows what you're talking about. However, don't reopen this bug. (See 2.2 here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=etiquette.html )

First, 2.2 is not relevant. I was not demanding that this bug be fixed, I was reporting a serious bug that is making more work for the people who actually fix bugs because it is easier to report a bug than to fight to figure out what
related bugs already exist.
The URL I was talking about is
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Mozilla%20Application%20Suite&format=guided
Thanks for finding bug 372589, that is indeed a much more clear description
of the problem. So this can indeed remain closed.
