User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070311 Firefox/2.0.0.2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070311 Firefox/2.0.0.2 Firefox doesn't even start the download when the download path is changed and points to a folder in a mounted vfat volume. Firefox and all its functionality should be filesystem independent, hence i think this is a severe usability bug. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.change download destination to a vfat target in preferences 2.start download 3.doesnt start Actual Results: download doesnt start Expected Results: download should work properly I seem to recall that this is not a new problem. It's been around at least since 2.0, if not even since 1.5 . Please fix.

Just an additional comment: download actually "starts", but files end up empty (0 bytes). Further attempts to download the same file create additional files using the usual suffix policy ("file (1)", "file (2)" etc.), all of them with 0 bytes as well.
