Pop up windows like add-on manager, downloads, error console etc. always have to be closed by 'x'ing them out or using ESC. That's not very convenient, as normal users could be confused to do it correctly. I recommend adding explicite buttons to close those pop-ups.

This was a conscious decision on the part of the developers. I'm going to dupe this to the WONTFIXed bug 233975 which is about the download manager.
