Learn more' Expected Results: dropdown menu worksm it has 'Show original' and 'message text garbled' in it, google chat on a web page works default installation of Mozilla firefox 2.0/russian on Mac osx 1.3.9 reproducible on all 2.x releases
Does it do the same thing in firefox's safemode? - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
yes it behaves the same in safe mode. However, I just noticed, that you can launch this drop down menu, clicking to the right of 'Reply' button. it just does not display the picture of 'drop-down'. google chat does not work anyway and I can't find a workaround
Eugene, do you use a slow connection to connect to the internet by chance? Maybe dialup? I can't reproduce this using Firefox 18.104.22.168 ru-RU on Mac OS X 10.4.8. I've seen the chat fail in the past when using a slow connection however. That might also make the drop-down image not finish loading (since Gmail has a lot of other things to load).
regarding the connection speed, it is high speed, though behind the firewall/NAT. But I dont think that matters because in Opera it works correctly. also note that I have Mac OSX 10.3.9, and you checked on 10.4.8. Thanks
Ah, well, it looks like you might have images blocked. I noticed the Gmail image is missing as well. Somehow images aren't displaying but I can't be sure why. It could be something with your firewall that Opera is somehow bypassing. Or a setting that's set in Opera that you need to also set in Firefox, perhaps? That'd explain both the images missing and Gmail Chat not working. Although, why it's limited to Gmail, I'm not sure.
there are no configuration settings for the firewall, I have linux/macosx install dual-boot, and everything just works. regarding images blocked - I don;t have this issue on other web pages also as you see not all images are blocked
Could you please try making a new firefox profile - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_manager Note: Don't delete your existing one
yes it worked OK with the new profile. is it possible to migrate my bookmarks/saved passwords to the new profile? Thanks
Sure, http://kb.mozillazine.org/Migrating_settings_to_a_new_profile The problem may be fixable in your existing profile however; do you have any changes in your UserContent.css that blocks stuff?
I can not find any file named UserContent.css in my profile
I noticed that fonts have changed after the profile reset. may be there was some issue with font rendering?
OK it's not that then. Probably easiest to migrate your old profile to the new one then. (Although hopefully you won't migrate your problem to the new one!) I don't know about your fonts-changed issue.
