The download counter for extensions is frozen at the numbers from something like two weeks ago. I assume this is intentional - the current download data is somewhat older and updating download numbers now would reset them almost to zero. Still filing this bug to make sure the updates for download numbers are started again once AMOv3 has been live a full week.
There is a cron job that has to be scheduled in order to get counts up and running. This was a part of our post-deployment checklist. Once we know the site will be up for good we will turn this on. That will be sometime monday after peak time (10am). I filed an IT request for this in bug 375283.

Download counts still are not moving.
This was fixed by bug 375283, the download counts are working now.

I think the last update of download counts was around Saturday, since then nothing has been moving. CP confirmed this in bug 377769 - reopening.

We have found that the maintenance script responsible for updating counts has been experiencing a timeout with its database connection. We are working on the cause in bug 378804.

I have noticed that download counts for sandboxed extensions (at least for my sandboxed extension) have not been updated at all since the start of April. I think that the counts only updated once in the week after I added my extension (26/03/07) and then never again since. On the other hand, my public extension's numbers have started and stopped intermittently and currently seem to be working.
Guess the script managed to update download counts for some extensions before timing out. This explains the weirdness I can observe in the Top 5.
Problem is fixed -- can you guys verify that counts are updating?
