According to http://www.mozilla.org/foundation/identity-guidelines/firefox.html the logo must include the copyright (©) symbol. This is not displayed at http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html (image: http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/img/firefox/all/main-feature.jpg ) and http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ (image: http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/img/firefox/download-box.png ) Other offending images in svn include: img/welcomefirefox.gif img/product-firefox.png img/download/main-feature.jpg img/home/download-box1.png img/home/download-box.png img/portal-page/firstrun-header.jpg (this image doesn't appear to have the required shadow either) img/portal-page/whatsnew-header.jpg (likewise) img/template/download-firefox.png img/template/download-firefox-white.png This probably applies to Thunderbird and Mozilla images too. We'll need a bunch of PSD or other original images to fix this. While we're at it, many of the logos (specifically the download box at /img/firefox/download-box.png) look really grainy - that should be fixed. Sooo... how important is following these guidelines? I ask because a corresponding AMO bug has also been filed. Bug 375080.

See bug 372567. The guidelines seem to be changing. Maybe they should be updated to reflect the changes?

Cameron - I think the right answer here is that the visual identity guidelines need updating, as they haven't been touched since September of 2005. I'll review with cbeard and John Slater here at Mozilla. John's joined us as of March 2007 to manage design and branding for Mozilla. We'll make this sure gets addressed. I'll reply back on the AMO bug.

pkim: This is the mozilla.com bug for this particular issue. Do you have something Steven needs to do, or has it been done already?

I am working on an overall site audit to identify things like this that need to be fixed. Once I get a complete list, we'll start taking steps to get everything straightened out. Thanks for catching this, and if you see anything else like it just email me directly. But don't worry, it will get taken care of.

John, we can close this bug, right? I (tried to) read through the trademark guidelines and policy. Most of the images originally mentioned here are gone now. Although, I noticed a few inconsistencies. The header logo and download button don't have a copyright symbol. And the symbol is missing from two logos in the media library: the Firefox logo with a wordmark, and the mozilla wordmark (white text on black background. So, not sure what to do with this bug, but it's really old and it would be good to updated it or close it.

The way the logos are displayed on the site now feels ok to me, so I think we can close this bug.
