User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070222 SeaMonkey/1.1.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070222 SeaMonkey/1.1.1
If you cancel out of the (Profile Manager) Create Profile dialog (opened via Tools | Switch Profile...), external links then cause the Profile Manager to open, rather then opening in an existing or new window.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open SeaMonkey.
2. Tools | Switch Profile... -> Manage Profiles... -> Create Profile...
3. Cancel. Cancel.
At this point you have canceled out of the Profile Manager dialog,
and you are sitting back at your originally opened window.
4. Open an external link. A shortcut on your desktop will do.
Actual Results:
Profile Manager dialog opens.
Expected Results:
Shortcut (link) should open in browser window (new or existing depending upon DDE settings).
No Profile Manager dialog should appear.
In my case, I have two Profiles (dumy & THERUBE).
(My two Profiles use different themes, making it easier to recognize when different Profiles have opened).
If you attempt to open the external link using the existing (opened) Profile, Profile Manager says, "SeaMonkey cannot use the profile "THERUBE" because it is in use. Please choose another profile or create a new one.".
If you open the external link using an Alternative Profile, the link will open in the new Profile. At that point, you have two different Profiles open. You can open different bookmarks. Though only ONE instance of SeaMonkey is active. There is no use of the MOZ_NO_REMOTE variable.
Data corruption could be occurring?
At the least, there is data "transference" - perhaps if only temporarily?
In one Profile, the AdblockPlus Icon I have on my Personal Toolbar. In the other Profile, the icon is in the Status Bar. After the bug the icon shows on the Personal Toolbar in both browser windows.
Newly opened links - whether opened from within the original browser window, from within the Alternative window, or from an external link, open in the Alternative browser.
Upon closing down SeaMonkey & restarting in the original Profile, both NoScript & AdblockPlus thought they had been installed anew. Some Prefs had changed. Tab Preview had been enabled, where it was disabled before.
This is also observable in SeaMonkey 1.0.x.
Reproducible with Mozilla 1.7.13, SeaMonkey 1.1.1 and SeaMonkey 1.5a/20070326. The external link opens as expected at step 4 when I use the Profile Manager to switch to another profile after step 3.

Can you reproduce with SeaMonkey v1.1.9 ?
Can you reproduce with SeaMonkey v2.0a1pre ?
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Before I was not in a position to test SeaMonkey 2.
Now I am not in a position to test SeaMonkey 1.1.x.
Though I can now say that this is not an issue in SeaMonkey 2.0.
So this should be marked as ... WONTFIX.
