It would be great if instead of defaulting to the top calendar in the list of calendars, users could right-click a calendar and click Set As Default.  It could have a little star added to the square of color to represent being the default.  Then, Sunbird would open with that calendar highlighted so new events would default to that calendar.

In current nightly builds the selected calendar (default calendar) is alreadz remembered and restored after application exit and restart. The remaining issues seems to be handled by Bug 366914.
