Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3

I don't know if this is mostly relevant with dynamic webpages but I noticed it with them most often. Normal sites seem to work. I see this problem with different sites, so it is not related to a particular forum.

It happens quite frequently, that I type a message in the forum, or click on a link to read a posting, and instead of the page the Save File dialog appears and wants to safe the page (index.php). As I said I noticed this most often with dynamic pages, so it's usually index.php that appears, but I have seen this with other sites as well, so it might not be directly related to PHP specifically.
It doesn't happen always, but as an estimate I would say in 5 from 10 cases it doesn't work. Other people on one of these forums, also had this problem, so I decided to file a bug report. Before they mentioned it, I thought my networkconnection might have a problem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I'm using most often this site http://modetwo.net/darkmod/ but it also happens on other sites.
2. Click on the forums and try to read some postings
3.
Actual Results:
Sometimes the Save File dialog pops up.

Expected Results:
Expected the page to be displayed instead. :)
It sounds like you're visiting some sites that have improper mime types or other server settings for their dynamic files.

I don't think that this is the case. I've seen this on two sites that I frequent quite often over the years now, and this has never happened before. The two sites don't have the same software installed and running different boards. The one I gave in the message above is our development site and I'm working with it since 2004 now. Also, if the site would be configured wrong, shouldn't we expect that this behaviour is always seen? But it isn't. It only happens every now and then, but frequently enough to get very annoying. I noticed that it happens more often when posting an answer or a new post, but it also happens with normal links. And the problem doesn't persist then. I usually use tab browsing and open a forum in a new tab. When this happens, I simply get an empty window. After closing the save dialog, and closing the useless tab, I click on the same link, that I used before, again and then it usually works without reloading it. If the site were configured wrong, or the link somehow broken, then I would expect that this happens every time when I click on such a link.
I can't reproduce on the forum link you gave in comment 0 using Firefox 2.0.0.3 on Windows XP or on Mac OS X. Can you please try running with a new profile for a while and see if you can reproduce this?
