User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; nl; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; nl; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 I have a Siemens Gigaset SX552 ADSL/VoIP modem. It has the ability to setup a built-in FTP server. Unfortunately Firefox does not recognize it and therefore will not download any file from it. When I try to download from the URL, Firefox says something like "FTP server type Broadnet Technology TTF-224 not supported". (I use the NL version of Firefox, so don't know the EN message, sorry) Please know that this is a very common modem here in The Netherlands. It is offered by KPN, the largest telecom provider, for their popular ADSL/VoIP products. Reproducible: Always
The English string received is: The FTP server 215 Type: Broadnet Technology TTF-2004 is currently unsupported.
Component: Download Manager → Networking: FTP
Product: Firefox → Core
QA Contact: download.manager → networking.ftp
We are in a period where ftp is clearly deprecated and in general, making changes to the code is riskier than letting it ride unless there is a patch and reviewer available to make a good judgment about it. So I'm going to wontfix ftp bugs related to enhancements, interop errors, etc.. We will be better off putting our energy into including a different js based ftp stack.
